The Talaria Sting R MX4 is the workhorse of the Sting series — a 60V electric dirt bike delivering 8 kW peak power, 53 mph top speed, and up to 75 miles of range from a 60V/45Ah LG 21700 battery. The IPM motor pushes 45 N·m at the shaft, brakes are 4-piston hydraulic with 220 mm rotors on both wheels, and the forged 6061-T6 aluminum frame is shared with the Expert Edition.
What Makes the Talaria Sting R MX4 Tick
The MX4 is the bike Talaria refined the Sting platform around. The IPM (Interior Permanent Magnet) motor architecture is more efficient than the older BLDC designs and stays cooler under sustained load. The FOC (Field-Oriented Control) controller delivers smooth, linear power across 4 levels of regen. Compared to the rest of the Talaria models catalogue, the Sting R MX4 sits at the middle of the Sting series — between the entry MX3 and the premium-spec Expert + flagship MX5 Pro.

The MX4 spec sheet is what most riders compare every other Talaria against. It is the median bike — enough range for a real day on the trail, enough power to keep up with experienced friends on Sur-Ron Ultra Bees, but light enough for tight singletrack. Owners often pair the bike with components from our Talaria parts catalogue — battery upgrades, performance controllers, and suspension internals are the most common starting points.
How It Stacks Up
Against the Sting MX5 Pro, the MX4 trades raw power and top speed for half the price. Against the MX3 it adds real performance for a $400 increase.

Who Should Ride One
Adult riders looking for a do-it-all electric dirt bike — capable on weekend trails, motocross practice tracks, and fire-road touring. The 75-mile max range is the highest in the 60V family. New riders should start in Eco; experienced riders unlock the limiter for full performance.
Living With It
3 hours charges the 45Ah pack from empty. The IPM motor needs no maintenance. Stock FastAce suspension benefits from an oil change every 50 hours of hard riding. Chain, sprockets, brake pads, and tyre pressure are the usual culprits. The MX4 is the cheapest Talaria to run long-term because parts are the most widely stocked in our parts catalogue.
Frequently Asked
What is the top speed of the Talaria Sting R MX4?
Top speed is 53 mph (85 km/h) with the limiter removed for off-road use. Stock units ship with a software limiter set lower for shipping compliance. Final speed varies with rider weight, terrain, and gearing.
How far can the MX4 go on one charge?
Up to 75 miles (120 km) at a steady 16 mph (26 km/h) cruise. Real-world mixed Sport-mode trail riding delivers 40-55 miles. The 60V/45Ah LG pack is one of the largest 60V batteries fitted to any production electric dirt bike.
Is the battery removable?
Yes — the 60V/45Ah Lithium-ion pack is removable with the supplied key. Many riders carry a spare for trailhead swaps to double effective range.
Should I buy the standard MX4 or the Expert Edition?
The Expert Edition adds a Manitou Dorado Expert air fork, Magura MT-5 4-piston brakes, and red CNC hardware for about $300 more. If you ride hard and would upgrade those parts anyway, the Expert is cheaper than retrofitting later.
Is the Sting R MX4 street-legal?
No — it ships as an off-road / closed-course electric motorcycle without DOT lighting, mirrors, or VIN paperwork. Some U.S. states allow OHV registration for trail-system access; verify with your local DMV or DNR.
Street-Legal Status, Safety & Registration
The Talaria Sting R MX4 is sold as an off-road electric motorcycle for private property, OHV trails, motocross tracks, and closed-course areas.

- DOT-approved helmet, eye protection, and full riding gear strongly recommended.
