TALARIA STING MX5 PRO

Price range: $4,100.00 through $4,400.00

The Talaria Sting MX5 Pro is a 72V electric dirt bike built for closed-course motocross and aggressive trail riding. A 13.4 kW peak power IPM motor, 72V/40Ah Samsung 50S battery, and adjustable air/spring suspension deliver 500 N·m of rear-wheel torque and a 55+ mph top speed. Three ride modes (Eco / Sport / Hyper), 220 mm hydraulic brakes, and a forged 6061-T6 alloy frame keep it dialled at the track or on enduro trails.

Description

Last ride-tested: 9 May 2026 by Talaria USA Editorial Team, 10+ years e-moto rider, 200+ hours tested across the Sting and X-series lineup.

The Talaria Sting MX5 Pro is a 72V electric dirt bike built for closed-course motocross and aggressive trail use, delivering 13.4 kW of peak power and a top speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h). It pairs a high-efficiency DC IPM (Interior Permanent Magnet) motor with a 72V/40Ah Samsung 50S 21700 battery — 2,880 Wh of stored energy that powers three ride modes (Eco, Sport, and the unrestricted Hyper mode) and delivers 500 Nm of torque at the rear wheel through a 48-tooth sprocket.

What Makes the Talaria MX5 Pro Tick

At the centre of the bike is a redesigned 72V powertrain — the first jump above the 60V architecture that defined the earlier Sting series. The IPM motor runs cooler under sustained load than older BLDC designs, and Talaria’s FOC (Field-Oriented Control) controller manages phase current with thermal protection that keeps Hyper mode usable for extended track sessions instead of trimming output after two minutes of full throttle. Compared to the rest of the Talaria Sting series, the MX5 Pro is the model that finally closes the gap with full-size 250cc gas motocross bikes on acceleration off the line.

Read in order, those numbers describe a complete platform: the adjustable air-and-spring fork settles rocky lines that bottom out a stock-spring MX4, the 4-piston brakes haul the 167-lb chassis down from highway-equivalent speeds, and the Samsung 50S cells hold voltage through hard discharge for longer track sessions than older LG packs. Owners commonly add aftermarket controllers, suspension internals, and skid plates — see the rest of our Talaria parts catalog for upgrade paths.

MX5 Pro vs. the Sting R MX4

The clearest reason to step up to the MX5 Pro is the 72V system. Against the MX4, the headline numbers move in one direction:

Who Should Ride One

The MX5 Pro is sized for adult riders with prior dirt-bike experience. Beginners should ease in via Eco mode; Sport is the everyday trail setting; Hyper is for closed-course riding once you trust the chassis. Riders comparing against a Sur-Ron Ultra Bee or eRide Pro SS will find the MX5 Pro’s adjustable suspension and 220 mm rotors do more work straight from the crate, with less spent on first-week upgrades.

Living With It

The 40 Ah pack is removable and recharges in roughly 4–6 hours on the supplied charger. Realistic range under hard motocross use is 20–35 miles per charge; gentler trail riding in Sport mode stretches that toward the 62-mile advertised figure. Routine maintenance is light — chain tension and lubrication, brake pad and rotor wear checks, fork-air pressure, and gearbox oil at the interval listed in the owner’s manual. There are no spark plugs, oil filters, or coolant changes.

Frequently Asked

What is the actual top speed of the Talaria MX5 Pro?

Unrestricted Hyper-mode top speed is 55+ mph (88+ km/h), measured at the rear wheel with the stock 48T sprocket and a rider of about 75 kg. Factory units ship with a shipping limiter that can be removed for off-road use. Final speed depends on rider weight, terrain, and gearing.

Is the 72V battery removable?

Yes. The 72V/40Ah Samsung 50S pack lifts out of the frame in under two minutes with the supplied key, which means you can charge indoors, swap a second pack at the trailhead, or store the battery separately from the bike.

How does the MX5 Pro compare to the Sting R MX4?

The MX5 Pro runs 72V instead of 60V, delivers 13.4 kW peak versus roughly 8 kW on the MX4, uses Samsung 50S cells, adds an adjustable air/spring fork and larger 220 × 3 mm rotors, and includes the Hyper ride mode that the MX4 doesn’t have. Curb weight is similar, but acceleration and sustained-load capability are meaningfully higher.

Is the Sting MX5 Pro street-legal?

The standard MX5 Pro trim is configured for off-road use only and does not include DOT-compliant lighting, indicators, mirrors, or VIN paperwork. Talaria does offer a separate Sting Pro MX5 Road Legal variant on a different homologation track — confirm which trim you’re ordering at checkout.

What warranty and support does Talaria USA provide?

Every new MX5 Pro ships with a 12-month limited manufacturer’s warranty on the chassis and powertrain. Talaria USA also covers 24/7 rider support, technical consultation for setup and aftermarket upgrades, and authentic-replacement parts through our US-based dealer network.

Street-Legal Status, Safety & Registration

The Talaria Sting MX5 Pro is sold and configured as an off-road electric motorcycle. It is intended for use on private property, off-highway vehicle (OHV) trails, motocross tracks, and closed-course off-road areas — not for public roads. Standard trim does not include DOT-compliant lighting, mirrors, indicators, horn, or VIN paperwork required for street registration in most U.S. states. Some states allow OHV registration for trail-system access; verify current requirements with your local DMV or DNR.

  • Off-road / private property use only (unless ordering the Road Legal variant).
  • DOT-approved helmet, eye protection, and full riding gear strongly recommended.
  • Recommended for riders 16+ with prior dirt-bike experience; beginners should start in Eco mode and graduate through Sport before unlocking Hyper.
  • Aftermarket modifications — controller swaps, limiter removal, battery upgrades — may void the factory warranty.

Trust signals: 12-month manufacturer warranty · 30-day returns on unmodified units · Ships in 3–5 business days from US warehouse · 24/7 rider support.
